Apprentice Company | Summer Employment | Fall/Spring Internships

NOW HIRING:
New York Stage and Film (SAF), an award winning non-profit dedicated to the development and production of new works for theater and film seeks a dynamic, creative, highly organized, detail-oriented Associate Producer to work with the company’s Artistic Director in all areas of producing.

During the summer (June – early August), Associate Producer works closely with Artistic Director to produce the Powerhouse Season, our signature program to develop and produce new plays and musicals on the Vassar College campus: serves as primary coordinator for readings and workshops; assists Casting Director with casting, auditions, and making offers to actors; schedules rehearsal spaces and venues; supervises staff and interns; acts as a key liaison to the 250+ world-class artists who participate in each summer season.

Individual must be in residence on Vassar’s campus in Poughkeepsie, NY for the Season (housing provided).

Year-round, the Associate Producer assists with all operations in the company’s New York City office including: working with Artistic Director to produce an ongoing reading series and additional workshops; managing all script submissions to SAF; soliciting and evaluating scripts, including from emerging writers in consideration of the Founders Award and other fellowships and awards; working with Artistic and Executive Directors to support the fundraising activities of the company (including the production of SAF’s annual gala, and board and donor relations); hiring and supervision of NYC interns; all pre-production for the summer season; assorted other administrative duties.

Candidate must possess excellent written/oral communication skills; organizational talents; deep knowledge of and passion for new plays and the New York theater community (actors, directors, and playwrights); and at least 3-5 years of producing experience.  Given our small year-round staff, the best candidate will also have a “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach, be able to work as a team with year-round and summer staff, and manage multiple projects and deadlines independently in a fast-paced environment.  Salary commensurate with experience.  Includes benefits.  Position available immediately.

Email cover letter, resume, and three references to:  Associate Producer Search at info@newyorkstageandfilm.org with “Associate Producer” in the subject line.  No phone calls please.  For more information, visit www.newyorkstageandfilm.org.

Due to SAF’s small staff size, SAF does not accept unsolicited script submissions; however, we appreciate your interest in the company. If there is interest in requesting the complete submission, someone will be in touch. No calls please.

As a general rule, SAF does not produce plays that have already received productions.

Once again, thank you for your interest!
