GENERAL MANAGER
New York Stage and Film (SAF) seeks a highly-skilled, detail-oriented, dynamic General Manager to supervise all financial and administrative aspects of the company, in close collaboration with Artistic Director.
This is a full-time, year-round position, based in New York City, with summers spent in residence on the Vassar campus in Poughkeepsie, NY.
From June-August, General Manager will work closely with Artistic Director on the Powerhouse Theater’s season of new plays on the Vassar College campus, focusing specifically on budgeting; tracking expenses and income; financial reconciliation; staff hiring and supervision; negotiating and implementing union agreements and other contracts; and supervising Box Office and Front of house personnel. Individual must be in residence on Vassar’s campus in Poughkeepsie, NY for the summer (housing provided).
Year-round, GM will be responsible for the company’s daily administrative and financial affairs including bookkeeping (accounts receivable/payable, bank and credit card reconciliation); payroll; insurance; working with SAF’s accountants on annual audit. GM will work with Artistic Director to create and manage annual operating budget, as well as project-specific budgets. In addition, GM will be involved in execution of annual gala.
Candidate must possess excellent written/oral communication skills; organizational talents; knowledge of the New York theater community; and previous management experience. Quickbooks experience preferred. Candidate must also be able to work as a team with year-round and summer staff; manage multiple projects and deadlines independently in a fast-paced environment; and have a passion for new plays.
